Hello all:

I got off work around nine thirty and found a lineless gas station so I stopped.  I had a gas can in my trunk and was going to fill it and bring it to someone using a generator, no electricity, and on a venelator (sp?).  So this guy can only breathe if his venelator is hooked up to the generator which runs on gas...only the gas station wouldn't let me fill a gas can "under any circumstance." So...the guy wont be getting gas from me, sadly.  For those of you who were concerned for my family and me during Katrina, I thank you for your prayers and phone calls.  My immediate family...mother and brother...stayed in Ocean Springs during the storm, not realizing that she was going to turn east at the last minute.  They called just before the eye wall came on land, they were holding the doors shut because she was trying to suck them off the hinges.  So that was a little scary.  But not as scary as not hearing from them until wednesday evening after having the "door sucking" conversation with my mother.  So anyway...they lived and the house is not beyond repair, which is much more than I can say for many of the families and homes in the neighborhood and rest of the city.  We were very fortunate.  Nothing outside of the house (trees, fence, vinal siding, shingals, vents) stayed outside of the house.  We didnt have any major flooding, but when the attic vent got sucked out lots of rain water came into the house.  But the structure is still there and while there is lots of dollars worth of damage, which is what insurance is for, nothing is beyond repair and my mom and brother are safe.  My aunt and grandmother; however, stayed in Gulfport and no one in the family has heard from either of them.  If anyone has heard from my cousin charlie (said aunt's son) please ask him if he has heard from his mom and let me know.  The boy doesn't have a cell and seriously needs one.  But I don't know how to get in touch with him...so you mc folks who may know him...ask him if his mom's ok.  Thanks.  Anyway...my mom actually got power back last night, which is amazing to me since people in Jackson still don't have electricity.  I am very glad though.  I went to one day of grad school and then Katrina happened...so I am looking foward to going to my tuesday classes this week, and my monday classes the next week.  Labor Day you know.  The job at Nick's is going well...this wasn't a huge money making weekend because of Katrina...but the past weekend was and I know next weekend will be so that is good.  Thats the only significant thing that needs updating so I will leave you now, since you are probably tired of reading...have a nice evening...bye bye.
Oh...and if you want to see areal footage of Ocean Springs after Katrina follow the link below...it will talk about Gautier for a second at first...but the last three forths of the video is of Ocean Springs:
if that doesnt work, go to wlbt.com and go to the second tour, or second trip video.

Started graduate school today.  Let me just say that it was quite overwhelming  with systematic theology as my first class.  The fact that its a presbyterian seminary doesnt make it any easier since i dont really know the presbyterian background nor do I care too.  My other class though, Fundamental Therapy Skills, was really great.  I enjoyed the professor a lot and I think it will be a good class.  One good thing that I can do for you all though is post humorous quotes from Systematic Theology on Wednesday's:

Today's quote:

While reading from scripture the professor jokingly says  "And in this verse I firmly believe that Jesus is trying to tell us that he is a Calvinist."

Hello All

I hope this update is finding everyone well.  I just got of work from my new job at Nick's in Jackson...couldn't take the slave shop anymore.  I am waiting tables there on friday and saturday nights from now on which is exciting.  I may also start hostessing there on Thursday evenings, but I haven't decided if i want to do that yet.

I just got back from Maryland on Monday.  We drove there and back which was very unfun, but the trip itself was great.  A few friends and I led a disciple now for another friend who is a youth minister up there.  We stayed from thursday to monday and one girl accepted Christ which made the whole trip worth it.  It was good to be in a different place for a while and to be around different people.

Sorry I have been a lazy xangaer lately guys, but i've been a busy girl.  I moved which took forever.  My mother came up and helped out, also some of my guy friends were kind enough to give up a saturday to help move the big stuff.  I am finally settled.  There were a few roaches at first, but hopefully that will stop soon.  I haven't seen one in a few days, so thats good.  I put my two weeks in at the slave shop.  I just can't take it another day.  I am currently job hunting so if you hear of any place hiring let me know.  I am currently taking a break from packing to go on a trip with some friends to Maryland.  We are leading a Disciple Now for a good friend's, Steve Roberts, youth at his church in Damascus so that should be fun, aside from the fifteen hour drive there and back.  Other than that, I have been working a lot and trying to get situated in this new apartment.  I miss my Clinton friends and am ready for everyone to come back from wherever they have been this summer.  This place gets lonely.  Graduate school starts on the 22nd so I guess you could say that I am looking forward to that.  I got a cavity filled today so that wasn't fun at all and I have to go back next Wednesday to get another one filled...yuck.  Nothing much else going on...I've made some new friends here lately...some from work which is interesting, and one who used to work with me...which has been especially fun.  But anyway...I'm off to finish packing!!!

I got attacked by a wasp at work...it hurts.  It  got in my hair and then it crawled on my collar and on my neck and went crazy.  Then it went in my shirt.  It got me three times.  Ouch!!!  I ran to the bathroom and stripped in hopes to find the hopefully dead wasp.  No luck.  It had gotten away, the little bugger...ken, a co-worker who had tried to save me from the attack, searched for it for a while with no luck, but about an hour later ken saw it crawling up the wall in the back room.  He thought the stinger had come off of it, so he picked it up and put it in a clear "to go" cup.  He thought I may want the pleasure of killing it.  Luckily it didnt sting him...but it tried to.  The fry cook said he would grill it if i wanted him too...but i passed...unsanitary, you know.  So I made ken take it out back and kill it.  It is dead now. Good story huh.
